It’s Sunday evening.  I’ve just sat down to work on that now-scheduled-for-Christmas-quilt for my son, when I  get a text from one of my best friends.  It’s one of those super happy texts that reads the following, “I’m going to surprise my daughter and get her the cat she’s been wanting for Christmas.  I’m so excited. I can’t wait!”   Taking a deep breath I text back, “since when have you liked cats?”  Her response is something akin to, “oh, my boyfriend has three cats.  I love snuggling up with them.  They are great! This is great!  It’s going to be a great Christmas!”  I start texting back, but realize that in this instance, damage control requires a phone call and not a text.…

I think everyone looks forward every once in a while to giving themselves a treat. Perhaps you’ve been putting in some late nights at work and are looking forward at the end of the day to watching 30 minutes of your favorite t.v. show or maybe you’ve been sticking to your no carbs diet and decide to splurge on that coffee shop mini muffin you’ve been eyeing for the past few days, whatever your choice is, I’m betting that every time you think about (insert treat), you get a little kick in your step. When you are not two peas in a pod

This little guy is the reason I wake up in the morning. Whether I want to wake up is another story. He is such an intense and smart boy. On some days I feel like I can’t keep up and I’m trained as a teacher! Being an educator has immensely helped me in how I approach my son. I think I fret less about his developmental milestones and have learned that some children are just quick as lighting in acquiring new skills while others are more thoughtful and introverted. Being a teacher is one thing, but being a mother throws in a different element. I find that if your child is temperamentally different from you, and mine definitely goes to the beat of his…
